Terms & conditions
Please read in full the following terms and conditions. Upon acceptance of an estimate of costs, provided to you by The Little Upholstery Company, you agree to abide by the terms and conditions outlined below. These terms constitute a binding agreement between you (the customer) and us (The Little Upholstery Company).
1) Estimate of costs
a) All estimates provided by The Little Upholstery Company are subject to change based on a final assessment of the furniture. Where relevant, the final assessment will be when the furniture is stripped of covering fabric and fillings leaving the frame and springs visible for inspection. Any major additional work required, and the associated cost, will be communicated by us to you and agreed upon before proceeding further.
b) Customers are responsible for notifying The Little Upholstery Company of any pre-existing damage or issues with the furniture. Failure to notify us of pre-existing damage or issues will invalidate the estimate provided by us.
c) Estimates provided by The Little Upholstery Company are valid for one month from the date of issue.
2) Fabric and materials
a) The Little Upholstery Company is committed to ensuring the suitability of fabrics and materials for your upholstery projects. Where fabric and/or other materials are supplied by The Little Upholstery Company we assume responsibility for their suitability and ensure compliance with current UK Fire Regulations as laid out in the Furniture and Furnishings Fire Safety Regulations 1988 (BS5852).
b) Furniture manufactured prior to 1950 falls outside of the scope of the Fire Safety Regulations, however, it is advisable that your fabric is fire retardant and meets the standards set out in the regulations.
c) When customers choose to supply their own fabric we can offer advice, however, ultimate responsibility and the risks associated with the material's suitability rests with the customer. We will assess the fabric to ensure that we are prepared to use it.
3) Payment terms
a) Payment by bank transfer is preferred, however, we will accept payment by cheque.
b) Your initial estimate will provide you with an estimate of the cost of our labour to carry out your upholstery project, and an estimate of the amount of fabric you will require.
c) Fabric and materials supplied by The Little Upholstery Company need to be paid for by the customer prior to us ordering the materials from our suppliers. You will be invoiced for the cost of the materials, plus a £20 fabric carriage cost per fabric supplier ordered from. The invoice will also require you to pay 40% of the labour cost we have estimated for you. You will have 7 days to pay this invoice, beyond the 7 days we cannot guarantee the price of the materials we have invoiced you for. Upon receiving payment we will order your materials and your furniture will be reserved a place in our workshop.
d) If you are providing your own fabric then you will be invoiced for 40% of the labour cost we have estimated for you. Payment of this invoice is due within 7 days and upon payment your furniture will be reserved a place in our workshop.
e) Upon completion of your furniture by us we will email you a final invoice which will be for the remaining 60% of the estimated labour cost and any other outstanding costs. Full payment is due in full within 3 days of the customer being sent the final invoice.
4) Old fabric
a) All old coverings will be discarded unless the customer requests, prior to the work commencing, for them to be returned to them.
5) Completion time frame
a) The estimated completion time frame provided is subject to change based on the complexity of the upholstery work and the lead times from our suppliers. The Little Upholstery Company will make reasonable efforts to complete the work within the agreed upon time frame and will maintain communication with the customer if the time frame slips.
6) Photographic images
a) We may use photographic images of your furniture for promotional purposes on our website and social media accounts (Instagram & Facebook). If you do not wish for your furniture images to be used in this way, please inform us of this when you accept your estimate.
7) Collection & delivery charges
a) Collection & delivery of furniture to a local address from our workshop is often offered free of charge, this however is at our discretion. Any details regarding collection & delivery will be included in your estimate where appropriate.
8) Customer concerns
a) If the customer has any concerns or is dissatisfied with the services provided, they have two weeks from the date of delivery/collection to advise The Little Upholstery Company. We will make reasonable efforts to address and resolve any issues brought to our attention within this time frame.
